Disintegrating sisal leaves - by pulping aligned leaves on opposite sides by compression and exposure to water jets

Sisal leaves are disintegrated by first aligning the leaves breaking their structure between a pair of rollers and exposing opposite sides in turn to the action of press and high press water jets for removal of pulp from the fibres. Preliminary disintegration prevents excessive breaking of fibres and the sap can be recovered for pharmaceutical processing. Pref. the leave are advanced continuously during the processing and the water jets act progressively on the leaves.
