Steep-seam coaling auger with extensible rods - three augers are used with single rod raise and drive agency

Steep seam coaling auger of the large diameter type is driven upward with extensible rods from the bottom road and so into the virgin seam above. In effect typically three augers in a single housing form a single boring unit and are all geared together, using a single set of rods to raise the boring unit and provide it with tis driving force. The housing should have guide bars which lie within tubes fixed to the boring unit in the initial position. The centre auger is driven from the long drill shaft while both the others are driven via toothed wheels or similar. The transport setting up, cleaning and lubrication are thus made simpler.
