FIELD: machine engineering.;SUBSTANCE: method for forming long-length rod articles with maximum cross-sectional area on single auger presses of equal or larger cross-sectional area of auger path includes movement of initial forming material by means of the auger through channel of auger press and its feeding with rotation into a deformation channel, the axis of which intersects the axis of the auger press channel at an angle from 10 to 45°. When material passes through the junction zone of these channels, its rotation gets blocked, and direction of its translational motion changes, which causes torsion deformation in the material of this zone and changing sinusoidal cycle every auger revolution by expansion and contraction strains parallel to axis of deformation channel, and deformation and compression in planes orthogonal thereto, and as a result sealing the material to compact state. The compacted material moves through deformation channel which shape of cross-sections is in the plane of junction with the auger press channel orthogonal to its axis has axially symmetrical cross-section, and in the plane orthogonal to the axis of deformation channel having elliptical cross-section shape which transitions along the channel length from elliptical to axially symmetrical with increase of cross-section area. The material is fed from the deformation channel into a shaping channel, in which the area and the shape of rod cross-sections formed from the material is changed along the channel length to the size and shape of the ready product. Material is subjected to deformation of axial compression in the deformation channel, and in forming channel it is subjected to strain deformation along the channel axis. The device for implementing the method is described.;EFFECT: increased production efficiency from powder, granular and discrete plasticised materials of long-length compact rod billets and articles uniform in structure and composition of material, which cross-sectional area can be greater than the cross-sectional area of the auger press channel.;4 cl, 8 dwg
