In the process for driving hollow piles into the ground, a hollow rod (2) is first inserted in the pile (1). This is fitted with a short auger bit (3) and a cutting tool, at its loading end. While the bit is rotated, the tool lifts soil and sand, and wraps them round the top of the bit. Air is injected, at high pressure, from a nozzle (6) at the rod end, to raise the lifted earth above the top of the pile, where it is ejected. At the same time, earth is continuously excavated by the cutter, enabling the pile to penetrate deeply. This works at high speed, without high-power electric motor.
