Shell and tube heat exchanger - with elastic PVC shell and tubes helically twisted round tube bank axis

In a heat exchanger, particularly a shell and tube single pass cooler, for heat transfer between two fluid streams one of which flows through, and the other round, the tubes between a feed coupling at one end of the tube bundle and a return flow coupling at the other end thereof, all the outer tubes of the tube bundle - viewed in cross section - are arranged in a circle round a central tube, more esp. with the circular profile shell lying along their outer periphery. In particular, the shell is an elastic tube and at least the outer circle of tubes are twisted helically round the central axis of the tube bundle. For a given throughput the heat exchanger takes up less space due to its improved overall coefficient of heat transfer. It is simple to fabricate and assemble and may be made as a module, one or more of which can be incorporated in the cooling system.
