TV black-and-white picture convertor - converts signals into colour picture signals for any N colours

As in 2124570 the black-and-white signal is applied to n similar electronic double comparators for its level quantisation in specified n grey or instantaneous value ranges, and for their consecutive conversion to signals of specified constant amplitude. In order to convert each double comparator output digital signal to three colour signal R, G, B, the three similar control amplifiers are connected in parallel. The generator controls the values and ratios of control voltages for the three amplifiers for the three colours in accordance with a d.c. voltage applied to its input and controlled by a potentiometer, so that when the potentiometers of the control voltage generators are moved from one end position to the other, the three output colour signals move over the whole circle of saturated colours.
