The ruler for drawing machines fitted with measuring scales with attached sections to attach the ruler to the holder at the drawing head. This attachment is specially used in the technical drawing area and in other areas and has means to permit the change of the measuring scale as necessary. A flexible endless scale band rotating inside the ruler housing and made from plastic or metal is used to change the measuring scale. It has six or more different scales imprinted or engraved on the outside of the scale band. The stretched out length of the scale band is chosen to exactly enclose a core and a movement shaft in the housing.
