Prodn. of strip cable short sections - is based on holding parallel wire lengths by insulating foils with hot pressing at spaced intervals

The short lengths of strip cables are produced from parallel, spaced wires drawing them through a device that presses strips of insulating foil of preset width across the wires. Such short lengths of cable approximately 25 mn. are used for connecting together e.g. printed circuit boards. The insulating strips are first pressed together, with the wires between them, by heated press jaws and then pressed by cold jaws to cool them. the wires are then cut to length with the insulating strips lying midway across the resulting short cables. Preferably the cold jaws are used also for trimming the insulating foils to precise dimensions.
