The yoghurt maker comprises a box-like housing which is closed on all sides and has a cover plate containing recesses projecting down into the housing interior to hold the yoghurt containers. The heat source for this apparatus comprises one or more electric incandescent lamps which are mounted inside the housing and can be replaced at any time by a new lamp or other lamps of a different output. Yoghurts of different qualities can be produced since the quality and flavour of the yoghurt can be altered by adjusting the heat process. The incandescent lamps are mounted in sockets inside the lower part of the housing which is accessible after removing the cover plate which is sealed to but detachably connected to the lower part.
