The method may be used for the electronic measurement of quantities and derivation of mean values in processes of a similar repetitive nature, which do not repeat with exact quality each cycle, such as pressure, temperature, torque, etc., using linear measuring transducers. A measurement is made at a corresponding points of a number of successive periods; it is expressed in digital form, and is fed into a digital processor. The measurements are integrated and the result is divided by the number of measurements made to derive the mean value at that point in the cycle. The apparatus is esp. of use when the successive signals are nominally the same, quantity to be measured being constant or changing only slowly. The method has the effect of filtering out noise.
