Manual actuation for the input devices for correction of control variables is detected at the input devices in dependence on the time schedule of the main program (420). Suitable software is used to process a controllable correction program and is stored in a non-volatile memory. The stored correction program (540') after activation by the operator in dependence on the time schedule of the main program and parallel to this, is processed in several successive processing cycles of the machine tool.
