The reciprocating holder moves in both the working condition and in neutral on a base plate. the design is claimed to be a simple method of manufacturing sliced potatoes. The potato knife is not a disc but has a wave shape. The ram is held on the base plate and is connected to a ratchet wheel by an oblique, toothed, spring loaded gear rack. For neutral movement the rack is truned through ninety degrees. The rack is recessed into the base plate. the ram has an adjustable pressure plate fixed axially behind it.
