The machine mainly consists of a rotating cylinder in which are partitions which may be prongs, dividing it up into radial, spiral or tangential compartments. The compartments serve in turn as intake chambers and then, when full, pass round to the opposite side where they discharge the crop. The path followed by the compartments from intake to discharge points can be positioned over the pivot axis of the drum, in which case the compartments and crop rotate 180 degrees, or underneath the pivot axis, in which case, they rotate by 90 degrees. A stepping mechanism, for example a cross wheel, is coupled by a drive shaft with the cylinder shaft by means of a pin and slotted disc, and moves the cylinder.
