The handle is used on the outside of the door of a vehicle and comprises a dished base which is screwed into a recess in the door outer panel and in which a pivoted handle member is mounted flush with the outer contour of the base. The pivotable handle member which is gripped from behind to open the door. At the end of the base remote from the inside of the door there is a projection which engages in a recess in the door outer panel. The handle is screwed to the base by two screws which are accessible from the outside when the door is open.
