Polyurethane foams with good dimensional stability and strength - made using polyether polyols obtd. by reacting alkylene oxide with mixt. of mono or disaccharides and hydroxalkylalkylenediamine
Polyurethane foams are made by reacting a polyol with a polyisocyanate in the presence of the usual aids and additives. The polyol is mfd. by addition of alkylene oxides to a mixt. of 10-80 wt.% mono- and/or disaccharides and/or polyhydric alcohols and 90-20 wt.% of a hydroxyalkylalkylenediamine of formula R2N-CnH2n-NR2 (where R = H, -CH2CH2OH, -CH2CH2CH2OH or -CH2CH(OH)CH3 and n = 2-4). The products have excellent dimensional stability and strength and are formed without the necessity of using large amounts of catalyst as in known processes.
