Arrangement for the overhead camshaft drive of an I.C. engine. The gear wheel of the camshaft(s) are located in spaces recessed from the front end wall of the engine housing which have been obtained by forward placing of the front bearing of the crankshaft and by a backward sweep of the engine housing front wall. The object of this invention is to reduce the construction length of the engine and to obtain a lower total engine weight.
