The wiper assembly improves the wiping performance over the whole area to be cleaned, irrespective of windscreen curvature. The framework remote from the glass consists of a bridge piece, roughly half the length of the blade. At either end of this are pivotally mounted the centres of two more bridge pieces. The outer ends of these carry the wiper blade itself. The inner ends pivot at the approximate centre of still further bridge pieces. This results in the wiper blade being supported in six places. The geometry of the system gives more even contact of the blade with the glass.
