A wiper blade assembly pivot joint (10) has a plastics material insert (17) located between two internesting metallic channel members (11,14). The insert member (17) is of channel like configuration having a base wall (18) and opposed side walls (19,20). The insert member further has a pair of solid circular trunnions (23) extending from the side walls (19,20) thereof. The trunnions are engaged in circular bearing apertures (24) in one of the metallic channel members (14). A pair of non-circular projections (26) extend from the side walls (19,20) of the insert member in directions opposite to the circular trunnions (23) and engage in slots (32) in one of the metallic channel members (11) that open onto the lower edges of the side walls (13) of the metallic channel member (11).
