Unit assembly methods can be used. Seat (5) and back (6) are hinged together at the rear of the seat (7). A rod (14) joins a toothed plate (12) on the arm rest (4) to a bracket (10) on the back. Adjustment is by a hand lever (13) holding the toothed plate against the pull of a coil spring (22). Another pair of rods (9) links the back (6) to the rear of the seat (5). Support rods (19, 19') are fixed to brackets (3) on the chair sides to reinforce the seat front, and are connected to the rods (9). The front of the seat (20) remains at substantially the same height.
