Guitar capodaster sliding over fret - is open at one side with spring for gripping fret

The capodaster is approximately C shaped so that it can be readily slid over the guitar fret, and has spring means biasing the upper and lower arms together, so as to grip the fret. A spiral spring is used, running vertically between the upper and lower arms and secured at respective ends to the latter. Pref. one end of the spring is secured to a flat plate fixed to the upper arm and the other end of the spring is secured to a curved metal plate, where the latter is fixed to the lower arm. The curved metal plate is in the form of a quadrant and curves upwards.
