7-Amino-desacetoxy-cephalosporanic acid prepn - by reacting 7-amino-cephalosporanic acid with a titanous salt

7-Amino desacetoxycephalosporanic acid - is prepd. by treatment of 7-aminocephalosporanic acid with a titanous salt, followed by treatment with a tert. nitrogen base in soln. in a polar solvent. Suitable titanous salts include the sulphate, chloride and acetate. These may be used in soln. in a suitable solvent such as water, a dil. mineral non-oxidising acid, a non-oxidising carboxylic acid which may be diluted, or an alcohol. The second stage of the reaction is effected with triethylamine, tributylamine, dimethylaniline, pyridine, N-methyl or ethyl piperidine, or N-methyl or ethyl morpholine. Suitable polar solvents include N,N-disubstd.carboxamides, N-substd.pyrrolidones and piperidines, tetrasubstd.ureas, N,N1-disubstd.imidazolidones, and trialkyl chlorosilanes.
