Paracetamol/aconite extract compsns. - with synergistic effect for treating rheumatic disorders and other painful conditions

Analgesic compsn. comprises 1 to 9 pts. w/w of a dry extract of aconite and 250 pts. w/w of paracetamol and is synergistic with three times the activity of the paracetamol alone but a similar toxicity. The extract, from Aconitum napellus, contains aconitine, napelline, aconine, picraconitine, aconitic acid, succinic acid, laevulose and fatty acids. Tests in mice show that the lowest dose of aconite extract that will reduce by one third the effective dose of paracetamol is 1 mg of dry extract to 249 mg of paracetamol.
