Polyurethane wall covering and lining material - prepd. by compressing flexible polyurethane foam and heating to fuse the cell walls

Polyurethane materials suitable for use as decorative wall coverings, upholstery fillings, and linings for clothing, are made by compressing elastic or semi-elastic polyurethane foams to change the original configuration of the cells, and applying heat to cause melting of the cell walls, maintaining the heat and pressure until conversion of the cells into the molten state is complete. Products have good decorative appearance, mechanical strength, heat- and acoustic insulation properties, and can be printed on and/or an embossed decorative motif may be applied during manufacture. Densities up to e.g. 400 kg/m3 can be achieved.
