1380443 D(-)Vanillylmandelic acid converting enzyme UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA REGENTS OF 3 March 1972 [19 March 1971] 10133/72 Heading C3H [Also in Division G1] An enzyme composition having stereo selective capacity for converting D(-)vanillylmandelic acid, is obtained by growing Pseudomonas putida A, ATCC 17426 on a medium containing mandelate, disrupting the cells of the microorganism and separating the debris to provide the desired composition. The composition may be used to determine stero specifically the D(-)vanillylmandelic acid in a biological fluid (see Division G1), and to separate L-mandelic acid from D-mandelic acid by virtue of the selective metabolism of D-mandelic acid by the microorganism (see Division C2).
