1412050 Cartographic globes SCAN-GLOBE AS 18 Oct 1973 [20 Oct 1972] 48690/73 Heading G5G A cartographic globe (Fig. 1, not shown) comprises a supporting sphere 1 on the exterior of which are detachably mounted two hemispherical shells 2, 3 the mounting be effected by means of wires 7, 8 which are secured to the respective shells and which are received by a groove 4 as shown, or by two grooves extending along or adjacent a great circle of the sphere 1. The wires may be transparent or coloured, and map images may be printed both externally and internally on the shells. Alignment of the shells relative to each other may be effected with the aid of printed indicia, or they may be positively located on the sphere, the wires being interrupted to form a gap for co-operation with a bridging portion in the groove 4 (Fig. 3, not shown). An internal light source may also be provided.
