FABRICATION OF MATRIX BONDED TRANSITION METAL-RARE EARTH ALLOY MAGNETS

A process for producing novel air-stable magnetic products. An organometallic compound which decomposes at a temperature below 500 DEG C is admixed with particles of a transition metal-rare earth alloy. The resulting mixture is pressed to form a green body which is then heated to decompose the organometallic compound to produce a metal vapor which deposits an interconnecting metal coating on the exposed surfaces of the pressed particles.
