METHOD FOR EVALUATING MANUFACTURING OPERATIONAL EFFECTS ON INSULATED WINDINGS

A method is disclosed for evaluating the effect of a preselected manufacturing operation on an insulated winding. The insulated winding is submerged in a conductive fluid and a potential applied across the winding and fluid. A first capacitive component of leakage current from the winding is determined and the winding removed from the fluid. A preselected manufacturing operation is then performed on the winding. The winding is again submerged in a conductive fluid and a potential applied across the winding and fluid. A second capacitive component of leakage current from the winding is then determined and compared with the first capacitive component.
