摘要
Hard deposits of adherent PVC are removed from the inner surface of a polymn. reactor by contacting with a mixt. consisting of 15 wt% dimethyl sulphoxide (I) and 85 wt% liquid methyl ethyl ketone (II) for a sufficient period of time. Method allows cheap rapid removal without damaging the reactor walls, and recovery of PVC for use. Contact is pref. maintained for at least 1 hr. pref. with a moving mixt. Removal is pref. effected by (a) introducing the mixt. into the reactor, (b) heating the mixt. to 71-74 degrees C, (c) bringing the mixt. into motion, and (d) removing the mixt. from the reactor after the deposit has been removed from the reactor walls.
