1429229 Ambutyrosin antibiotics BRISTOLMYERS CO 12 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42954/73 Heading C2C Novel antibiotics 4SP1/SP-deoxyambutyrosin A and 4SP1/SP-deoxyambutyrosin B, being respectively NSP1/SP- (4 - amino - 2 - hydroxy - butyryl) - 4 - O - (2,6- diamino - 2,4,6 - trideoxy - D - glucopyranosyl)- 5 - O - D - xylofuranosyl - 2 - deoxystreptamine of Formula (I): and NSP1/SP - (4 - amino - 2 - hydroxy - butyryl) - 4- O - (2,6 - diamino - 2,4,6 - trideoxy - D - glucopyranosyl) - 5 - O - D - ribofuranosyl - 2 - deoxystreptamine of Formula (II): together with the known antibiotics ambutyrosin A and ambutyrosin B, and acid-addition salts and hydrated forms thereof, are produced by aerobically cultivating Bacillus circulans, subsp. n. croceus (ATCC 21820), subsp. n. proteophilus (ATCC 21821) or subsp. n. biotinicus (ATCC 21822) in an aqueous nutrient medium, isolating a mixture of said antibiotics from the fermentation broth, and optionally isolating the component antibiotics from the mixture. The mixture of the four components and salts thereof, or the individual antibiotics 4SP1/SP-deoxyambutyrosins A and B and their salts, may be made up into antibiotically active pharmaceutical compositions with a pharmaceutical carrier or diluent.
