1456230 Radiological contrast media THANN & MULHOUSE 17 Dec 1973 [19 Dec 1972] 58335/73 Heading A5B [Also in Division Cl] A radiological examination of a patient is carried out by administering to the patient a radiopaque meal and subsequently taking X- radiographs of the patient, in which the meal comprises an aqueous suspension of a barium titanate and/or a barium zirconate. An X-ray contrast medium comprises an aqueous suspension of a barium titanate and/or a barium zirconate also containing a stabilizer such as methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, gum arabic, gelatin or agar-agar. The barium titanate is preferably barium monotitanate. The medium may also contain a non-toxic sulphate having a water-solubility greater than that of barium sulphate e.g. sodium, potassium or calcium sulphate.
