A process for the production of cellulase enzyme having thermostable property, the process comprising the steps (a) the growing of the fungus Penicillium funiculosum [Isolate F4] in a medium consisting of cellulosic waste materials usch as herein described as a primary source of carbon and alcohols and/or sodium salts of organic acids such as herein described as secondary scurce of carbon,  and  inorganic  nitrogen  compound  and complex nitrogen compouuds such as herein deicribea as nitrogen sources, and/or oil seed cakes such as herein described as additional" nitrogen sources, anc supplementary inorganic metal salts such herein described, and trace elements such as hereir described and (b) separating the culture filtrate by filtration from the fungal growth, and precipitatinp the cellubse with solvents and lyophilizing the enzyme in powder form.
