1-Ethyl-4-(halophenyl) benzenes of formula (I) (where R is halogen) are anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic agents, for e.g. spondylitis. Cpds. (I) are prepd. by reducing corresp. cpds. where Et is replaced by -COCH3, -CHCH2 or -CCH.
