1461024 Bearings HOWALDTSWERKEDEUTSCHE WERFT AG HAMBURG UND KIEL 27 June 1975 [3 July 1974] 27270/75 Heading F2A A method of centering a shaft 5 in a bearing assembly comprises (a) turning an annular groove 3 in the bearing housing 2 open towards at least one end face of the housing and towards the bearing axis, (b) inserting a roller chain in said groove so as to run on the shaft and in the groove whereby to support and centre the shaft during assembly, (c) removing said chain after alignment of the shaft in the bearing. The roller chain is secured against axial displacement on the shaft by a clip 7.
