1501630 Radar systems MARCONI CO Ltd 4 June 1975 [4 July 1974] 29619/74 Heading H4D In a radar system, transmission of video signal, azimuth information in digital form, and synchronizing pulses from a remote radar head to a display unit is accomplished by combining these signals into a composite waveform signal (resembling a television signal) at the radar head and transmitting this signal over a single transmission line. The composite signal waveform comprises, Fig. 1, synchronizing pulse 10, followed by a 16 bit digital word 12 containing a 13 bits azimuth information two bits to identify the radar head transmitting where a plurality thereof may be viewed in the one display unit and one parity bit. In Fig. 2 control unit 26 allows, firstly transmission of the sync. pulse 10 through amplifier 29 which drives, e.g. a coaxial cable connected to the display unit (not shown), and secondly enables parallel to serial conversion circuits 20, 22, 24 to output the digital information concerning, e.g. the instantaneous azimuthal direction of the radar, which may be followed by a clamp level 14, and then the radar video signal from amplifier 30.
