Towing gear unit for tugs - has motor powered friction winch and towing hook transportable as unit

A heavy mounting plate (14) carries the friction winches and their hydraulic motors on one side and the anchor bracket (11) for the tow bar (10) together with suitable fairleads for the towing wire from the winches on the other. A compartment cantilevered from the mounting plate, below the towing gear, houses the wire rope storage reels (6) and their motors. Additional support for the towbar is provided by the compartment deck head. Embodiment of the friction winch towing arrangement adds flexibility. All sensitive gear is under cover, and the complete unit can be bought in by the shipbuilder.
