Aircraft mounted tow-rope winch - has twin power units driving light drum in casing embodying parting device for lightweight tows

The two-rope winch is partic. for lightweight tows, using synthetic fibre rope. It is powered pref. by two electric motors with epicyclic gears. Alternatively two self-winding spring units are used, simultaneously driving a rigid-PVC or light alloy drum via V-belts. The drum flanges align with the sidewalls of a casing with an opening for the rope embodying guide rollers. Transverse rope movement is limited by the gate width of a manually operated spring-loaded chisel and anvil parting device. The rope pref. runs to the tug stern inside a PVC tube and embodies a rated breaking link.
