The system of switches, counters, indicators and time clocks is for application to a clutch pedal as used on machines of many kinds, so that the service life of the clutch, in terms of distance travelled and number of switching operations, may be determined. The system comprises a number of switches attached to the pedal mechanism mounting, which are actuated at various pedal positions. When a typical switch from this set is actuated, it starts a counter mechanism and operates a light. In addition it starts its own time clock and activates a distance counter. Various diodes, capacitances and resistors are also associated with the circuit. When a clutch failure occurs, a complete record of the number of operations and the total excursion of the pedal are available.
