Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber-based solvent adhesives for cold contact fixing of PVC, to itself or to other materials, contain, w.r.t. elastomer component, opt. 2-100, pref. 10-70 wt. % resin consisting of either (a) novolacs of (1) aldehydes, esp. HCHO, and (2) bis-phenols, =3C-alkyl-phenols and/or aryl phenols or mixts. of one or more of these phenols with =50 mol. % phenol and/or =2C-alkyl-phenols, which contain n o added hexamethylene tetramine, or (b) vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers. The adhesives are used for fixing plasticised PVC to PVC, polyurethane-based synthetic leather, rubber, leather, textiles, cellulose-contg. materials, e.g. wood, paper and carboard e.g. for floor tiles. Adhesives have improved adhesion and cohesion on plasticised PVC; prolonged "open time" contact adhesion; joints have improved resistance to heating; contact-press. required in fixing can be reduced. Added resins are odourless, tasteless, do not discolour joints and do not reduce adhesive resistant to plasticisers.
