Sterilisation using saturated steam - uses reduced water consumption giving more economic use of heat

Steriliser comprises a sterilising chamber which is supplied with saturated steam and which has a condensed water outlet connected to a heat exchanger which is supplied with cold water for subsequent supply to a hot water system. In the hot water system is a valve which is controlled by a temp. sensor which senses temp. of hot water leaving the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a secondary heating system for heating cold water, and is pref. in the form of a boiler including a first piping coil conducting the mixture of steam and condensed water and a second piping coil conducting the cold water to be heated.
