The conveyor consists of an elevator with strips on a sliding metal plate which takes the crosswise positioned maize cobs through metering flap controlled by the conveyor and a loading trough. A vibrator operates the elevator for positioning the maize cobs. A centrifugal drum or rotary disc is positioned in front of the conveyor. The maize cobs are accelerated against an impact-surface. The accelerator consists of a flap synchronously operated by a two-bladed initial cylinder. The maize cobs fall through the flap into the first cylinder where blades knock them against the impact surface. Alternatively, the accelerator consists of a sloping sieve separates the corn from the maize stalks.
