Electrochemical timer with powder electrodes and electrolyte - kept underpressure for good contact, increasing capacity and efficiency

In an electrochemical time-signal transmitter (or coulometer), consisting of a container contg. a system of a solid electrolyte between a pair of electrodes of opposite polarity a device is joined to the container and the electrodes and the solid electrolyte are held together under a considerable constant pressure. These cheap timers can be used for many purposes, e.g. as guarantee devices for domestic appliances, timers for hired business equipment and time integrators for scientific equipment. The use of pressure ensures good contact between the electrodes and electrolyte increasing the capacity, max. operating current, efficiency and charge retention during storage.
