The lighting and excess voltate arrester is designed for insertion between coaxial cables (8, 9) in antenna systems, mechanical and electrical antenna accessory equipment, amplifiers and convertors. It comprises a high power over-voltage arrester (5), filled with noble gas and reusable. It has fail-safe properties, is inserted between inner conductors of coaxial cables (8, 9) and permanently earthed at one end, so that voltage surges travelling in the coaxial cable (8) are directly earthed through the cable braided screen (3) and clamps (7), and in the inner conductor earthed through the excess voltage arrester (5), so that such a voltage is not transmitted through the cable (9) inner conductor to the loads.
