The spacer, pref. made of injection moulded plastic etc. for the support of reinforcing units in concrete building components or other elements consists of two or more approx. U-shaped interconnected loop shackles with vertical shanks forming the standing legs and with struts meeting at an angle. The U-shaped elements are interlocked together with legs in common and by this means can be arranged to form any suitable closed or open basic shape, such as a star, V shape, cross, circle, square, rectangle or triangle. The interlocking can be in corrugated or zig-zag configuration.
