A colour mixing head with a white light source having sliding colour production filters with a light mixing device behind the filters as well as a scattering disc has the light mixing device (22) consisting of a large number of light guide fibres (24) which have the light input ends (20) collected together and mixed such that light output ends (32) of the individual fibres (24) are not arranged in the same order as their initial positions. The fibres (24) mixed in this way produce an even mixture of light to illuminate the light scattering disc. The arrangement includes a number of interference filters (14, 16, 18) and a heat absorbing filter (26).
