The unit is particularly for flares or smoke, tear gas and explosive rockets etc., and has a pivoting grip which in the folded position covers the trigger and which can be locked in the unfolded position after swinging through approximately 90 deg. A locking device (3) locks the grip (2) against the housing (1), and slides in the firing pin hole (1c) to bear against the firing pin spring (6) and act as an abutment for the rear end of the latter while a pressure plate (3) at the rear end closes off the housing at the rear end which is curved. When the grip is folded, this plate is thrust inwards by the edge of the grip, and it springs out again into the locking position as soon as the grip comes up against the housing.
