Shunting system for railway wagons - uses linear motored shunters with reversing turntables operated using braking energy

The linear motored shunter (4) runs on a haulage track (8) running parallel to two neighbouring railway tracks (1) to push, by means of a projecting roller, (11b) contacting the rear wheel running surface of the wagon to be shunted, a certain distance along the track. The shunter is then turned round by turntables (12a) arranged respectively at each end of the rail running parallel to the first track. The linear motors and the turntables are regulated by a central control system in the sense that the shunters kinetic braking energy is translated to the turntable rotating energy and the turntable braking energy is translated to the shunter.
