The shunting platform for wagons in furnace layouts etc., has parallel tracks abutting from two sides onto a transverse shunting track. It has a shunting vehicle and a rail section for alignment with these tracks. There is a hoist frame (11) on the shunting platform (8), leaving the wagon and shunting vehicle profile clear, for lifting the shunting vehicle (9) over the wagon. There is also a drive device (31-34) or more that one, on the platform, to take over wagons (10) from the track, or deliver them to the track. This facilitates compact operation, without changing wagon alignment.
