Epoxide polyadducts having increased pot life - from epoxides, cyanamide monomer and stabilisers

In the parent epoxide polyadducts are prepd. by reacting epoxide cpds. contg. 1 epoxy gp./molecule and being derived from bisphenol, with an N-contg. cpd., opt. in the presence of accelerators and fillers, the N-contg. cpd. comprising anhydrous monomeric cyanamide, used in amt. of 0.3-0.6 mol./epoxide equiv. In the addn, 0.01-2%, pref. 0.05-1%, calc. on the total system, of a stabiliser are added, comprising 1-15C carboxylic acids, or alkyl or aryl esters of (in)organic acids. The pot life of the epoxy resin/cyanamide mixt. is appreciably increased, which is advantageous in the prepn. of glass-fibre-reinforced plastics by impregnation methods.
