UV-initiated cationic polymerizations offer several advantages over the more common free radical photopolymerizations. First, cationic photopolymerizations are not inhibited by oxygen. This feature is practically important for industrial processes because it is not necessary to blanket the reaction system to obtain rapid cure rates.
