The improvement in the tone produced by the instrument is achieved by mixing corresponding electric signals with second signals which differ form the first signals by continuous change of their phase relative that of the first signals. This is achieved by phase shifters and corresponding modulators. The phase shifters are inserted before the frequency dividers. The device has only one modulator (10) which is used for all twelve notes of an octave, and when several modulators are used for several octaves, phase shifts or higher octaves have no effect on the phase of lower octaves.
